Description
Unloaded – Commercial Fishers from Bermagui to Eden
Determined to separate fact from fiction within the commercial fishing industry awarded photographer Urs Buhlman decided to introduce himself to the commercial fishers from Bermagui to Eden. His mission was to photographically document their techniques and methods while absorbing opinions and experiences. Relationships were formed and hours spent on board their vessels. From oyster farmers to tuna longliners, board trawlers to mussel harvesters, trappers, divers and net haulers. All had a story to tell. This book is a testament to the fishers and the immense challenges they face now and into the future.
About the Author:
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Urs had an interest in imagery from an early age. Influenced initially by his father, who was a graphic designer, Urs has continued to immerse himself in a visual communication environment. After moving to Sydney as a child, Urs developed a passion for marine life. This interest inspired him to spend time working as a professional fisherman following the completion of a Diploma of Fisheries degree. Urs’ early interest in art design and the nature of seascapes prevail as the dominant influences in his work as a professional photographer for the past 30 years working on domestic and international advertising assignments.
