Fishing Report for July
Lakes & Estuaries
The estuaries have had a good flush with this run of bad weather. This has made it a little hard of late due to the dirty water but there have been a few reports of bream and flathead even an odd Estuary Perch. So find some rocks and some vibs a see if you can find an EP.
Beach Fishing
With the bad weather and rain the beaches have stayed reasonably productive with salmon. The bad weather has made finding a good gutter to fish fairly easy. Metal lure or salted pilchards are still the go to for these fish.
Inshore Fishing
The cold mornings are still here but the mornings have been calm since the rain you just need to be outside that dirty water to find nice snapper. So again try fishing a little deeper between 40 and 80m for the snapper and mowies. The flathead has been a little harder of late to find but the odd fish is still there to be found.
Offshore
With the water at 18.1 temp dropping we are still seeing the old bluefin being caught. There have also been some schools of small bluefin moving along the rocks which is a good sight to see.
Quarantine Boat Ramp has been upgraded, which is great news for all boat users. For the latest fishing reports or any supplies that you may need – call into see Michael at Pickles Fishing and Outdoors. Don’t have a boat – why not book a trip with Mark on Freedom Charters.
